PHYLLIS TUCKWELL HOSPICE LIVING APPEAL

ANN'S STORY

Ann lives in Aldershot and has breast cancer that has now spread into her bones. She lives with her husband George who works nights. She attends Day Hospice once a week to get help with her mobility from the Physiotherapist. She is also monitored by the Medical Team for her pain and enjoys getting out of the house once a week without relying on George. Ann struggles with being alone at night and the Hospice Social Worker has arranged for a carer to help her until she goes to bed.

To bid for Ann’s hat with real Swarovski crystals

"The Hospice really is my ‘lifeline’. I can talk to others in the Day Hospice who are in similar situations to me. We compare notes and share thoughts and I always go home feeling better. I love having a massage and have started to go to the Reminiscence Group where we talk about our experiences and have a laugh. The Hospice has done so much for me that I would like to do something in return and support the Living Appeal. I commissioned a hat to be made for my son’s wedding and asked the Hospice to sell it to raise funds for the Living Appeal. There are such things as Angels – and they are at the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice."
